Please turn on all computers to start the day. When the server connection comes up with the name “Classes” leave the password blank and hit the return key. There is no password.
Our library automation system is called Destiny. It is web-based. Turn on the computer on the desk and connect to the internet. Destiny is bookmarked on the toolbar or you can get it to by either typing in destiny or if that doesn’t work destiny.ci.manchester.ct.us. Click on Martin School. There is a login button at the top right of the screen. The user name is admin104 and the password is “martin.”
The middle tab on top is “circulation”. Once in this screen you can click on “check in” and scan books as they are returned. To check out click on check out” on the left.
“The easiest way to check out for a whole class is to select “by homeroom” on the right by the top of the screen. You can then select the appropriate homeroom from the drop down menu. Click on “select patron” and then click on the student’s name. You can then scan their books and they will automatically check out. If the barcode does not properly scan, type in the entire number exactly as it appears on the barcode. To return to the class pictures and names click again on “select patron”.
To renew books simply click on “renew” on the left and then scan the book. It will automatically renew.
Look at the daily schedule to determine your class visits:
Lab denotes computer lab time. Teachers are responsible for instructing their classes. You may provide support if needed.
Library denotes a class visit.
∑ Classes visit the library with their teachers.
∑ Students enter and place their books to be returned or renewed on your desk.
∑ You are responsible for renewing books, checking in the returned books and checking out the new ones.
Directions by Class
∑ For grades K - 2 you will start the class by reading aloud an easy fiction book chosen from our collection. For grades 3 - 5 follow lesson left by media specialist or follow sample lesson. After the lesson students may choose their book(s).
All returned books need to be shelved. If it is possible you may do it after each class, or wait until the end of the day.
Use any extra time to straighten shelves, magazine rack, etc.
